Top 5 Best Late Bloomers in NASCAR History. By Brian Cotnoir There’s no doubt about it; NASCAR is in a Youth Movement. Over the past 30 years, we’ve seen NASCAR go from a sport run by men in their mid-30s to early-50s, to go on to be dominated by Young drivers.   The 1 st wave of young drivers came in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s with drivers like Davey Allison, Tim Richmond, Rob Moroso, and Jeff Gordon finding success early on in their careers competing with the grizzled veteran drivers of NASCAR.   At the turn of the millennium we saw the new “Young Guns” and names like Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kevin Harvick, Matt Kenseth, Jimmie Johnson, and Ryan Newman come in and dominate the sport.    Now, we’ve got “NASCAR NEXT Generation” of drivers younger than 20 coming into the Cup Series after dominating the lower-tier series.    No doubt about it, NASCAR is a sport that is embracing a youth culture, but it wasn’t too long ago that the sport was domi...

Top 5 Best NASCAR Cup Series drivers with 2 Career Wins By Brian Cotnoir Who says lightning doesn’t strike twice?    Well I already went through the best NASCAR drivers with only one career win, so I figured I’d talk about the best Cup Series drivers who managed to score 2 wins.   I also am planning to do this with the Xfinity Series & the Truck Series.   I won’t be doing this for every numerical increment/win total.    Just the ones I think I can make a good article from.   Let’s not waste any more time here’s the Top 5 Best NASCR Cup Series drivers with only 2 Career wins. 5.)   Jimmy Spencer With almost 15 seasons of full-time driving experience in the NASCAR Cup Series, Jimmy Spencer truly was a journeyman and fan favorite of the sport.   Known as “Mr. Excitement”, Spencer only managed to score 2 career victories in the Cup Series.   Both wins came in a 4 week span in 1994 while driving for NASCAR Hall of Famer Ju...

Another 5 lesser-known, but awesome racing stories By: Brian Cotnoir 1.) Jimmy Horton flips out of Talladega Talladega:   That name alone can send thrills or fear through a person’s body, it is the biggest and baddest track on the NASCAR circuit, and has been the sigh of many infamous wrecks.   In fact, one driver once wrecked so hard, that his car was actually ejected from the track! Jimmy Horton was a racecar driver from New Jersey.   While his Cup Career doesn’t have any significant highlights, I should mention that he has won 8 races in the ARCA Series; all of them at the Big Tracks; Daytona, Talladega, Pocono, and Atlanta.   During the 1993 Diehard 500 at Talladega, Horton was clipped by driver Stanley Smith, and his car actually flipped over the wall and left the track and landed near an access road.   Horton surprisingly emerged from his destroyed car, with no clear signs of injury.    Smith, unfortunately, suffered near fa...

Top 5 NASCAR Truck Series drivers with only 1 Career Win

Top 5 NASCAR Truck Series drivers with only 1 Career Win By Brian Cotnoir This series has had so many different names since its debut season in 1995 that I’m just going to save myself frustration of typing out the title sponsors and just simply refer to it as “The Truck Series”.   Now that, I’ve got that out of the way; if you were to tell me I could only watch one NASCAR racing series for the rest of my life, I would say the Truck Series in a heartbeat.   There’s just something about watching big-bad trucks duking it out at speeds over 150 MPH going for wins and taking no prisoners.   The Truck Series has been both the launching ground for young up & coming drivers and a place where former Cup Series talent can have their careers rejuvenated.   However, some drivers bad but a brief moment in the sun, and the only thing they have to show for their efforts is one career win in the Truck Series. As per usual, I am only including drivers that have since ...
