Top 5 Defunct NASCAR Truck Series Teams

Image
Top 5 Defunct Truck Series Teams By Brian Cotnoir The Truck Series has had some of the Best, albeit short lived, teams in NASCAR History.    Today, we pay homage to those great Truck Series Teams who are no longer competing. 5.)   Red Horse Racing Red Horse Racing was owned by former Mobil 1 executive Tom DeLoach and former NASCAR Crew Chief, Jeff Hammond.    The team was purchased 2004 from former Clean Line Motorsports team.   The team ran between one and four trucks, most notably the #17 that was piloted by long time driver, Timothy Peters.   The team would also field part-time rides for drivers like Brett Moffit, Todd Bodine, and John King.   Red Horse Racing unfortunately would have to shut down in 2017 due to a lack of funding, but they did win 16 races in their brief existence. 4.)   Xpress Motorsports Xpress Motorsports was started by Steve Coulter to promote his company IWX Motor Freight in 1996.    Xpress Motorsports most iconic ride was the #16 tr

5 Other NASCAR Pariah's

5 Other NASCAR Pariah’s By Brian Cotnoir Well, it’s been over a week now since driver Kyle Larson was fired by Chip Ganassi for use of a racial slur during an iRacing event.   I applaud NASCAR, Chip Ganassi, and the sponsors for their prompt and appropriate response to the situation.    NASCAR has been building up to this; in the past drivers like Clint Bowyer and Nelson Piquet Jr. were fined for Offensive Language, and current Xfinity driver Jeremy Clements was suspended by NASCAR doing the exact same thing and had to miss two races while he attended sensitivity training. Kyle Larson Larson isn’t the first driver NASCAR has ousted for deplorable behavior, and most likely won’t be the last.    Here are 5 other racing figures that NASCAR probably wishes you would forget about. 1.) Smokey Yunick Smokey Yunick has gained some popularity in recent years, but you still don’t hear him being talked about a lot by the NASCAR Organization.   NASCAR made a short documen

Top 5 Defunct NASCAR Grand National Series Teams

Top 5 Defunct Grand National Teams By Brian Cotnoir The Grand National Series was once a place where Average Joe’s could build and enter their own cars for select races, or run the entire season if they had enough money & sponsorship.    It was a time to give rising young talent a chance to compete against Premier NASCAR talent…and then the Cup Regulars and their Cup Teams started entering and winning every race, and it made us all hate watching racing so much that NASCAR had to institute rules to limit the amount of races a Cup Series Regular could enter and give the Grand National Series Regulars a fighting chance.    So before Every Cup Series Team had their own Grand National Team, there was a slew of Independently Owned Grand National Teams and these are the 5 that I—personally—wish were still around 5.)   Brewco Motorsports Brewco Motorsports was owned by the Clarence Brewer and his wife Tammy.   Brewco Motorsports competed in the NASCAR Busch Series from the

10 Memorable NASCAR Paint Schemes from my Childhood

10 Memorable NASCAR Paint Schemes from my Childhood By Brian Cotnoir I haven’t done a Paint Schemes article in a while, so today I want to talk about the Most Memorable Paint Schemes from my childhood.    Now before I continue with this I just want to point out this is all strictly my opinion, and I won’t be including any repeats from my previous paint scheme articles like The Top 10 Most Iconic Paint Schemes or the 10 Best Paint Schemes in Cup Series History, so please don’t b!tch and moan in the comments about how I didn’t mention Jeff Gordon’s Rainbow Warrior or Dale Earnhardt’s Goodwrench car, or the Tide Rides; because I already talked about them in other articles and I will post a link to those articles at the bottom of this post. 1.) Kyle Petty, Hot Wheels One thing you had to give NASCAR credit for: They knew how to market the sport to kids back in the 1990’s.   They had sponsorship deals and toy promotions with our favorite fast food restaurants, breakfast cere

Top 5 Defunct NASCAR Cup Series Teams

Top 5 Defunct NASCAR Cup Series teams By Brian Cotnoir NASCAR has been around for more than 70 years, and in those years they have seen many teams come and go in the sport.   Some teams have lasted more than 5 decades in the sport, while others have shut down after less than a season.   Today, I will be talking about the 5 Best NASCAR teams who no longer competing in the Cup Series. 5.)   Melling Racing Melling Racing’s most successful seasons came with NASCAR Hall of Famer, Bill Elliott.   Elliott is responsible for all 34 of Melling’s wins in the NASCAR Cup Series as well as winning the teams only drivers’ championship in 1988.   After Elliott left the team in the early 1990’s, the team went into a downward spiral of sorts, and following the sudden and tragic death of the team’s owner and found, Harry Melling, the writing was on the wall.   Melling’s son, Mark, took over the team following his father’s death, but he would end up selling the team after the 2002 season.
