5 NASCAR facts that sound made up, but are true By: Brian Cotnoir In its 70+ years of existence NASCAR has gone through many changes.  From regulations regarding the races and the cars, to the points system and how many races are run in a season, to rules regarding races and the drivers!   In that history some surprising and unbelievable things have happened.  Some of these moments are so unbelievable that you swear they were made up, but in fact are true.  Here are 5 NASCAR facts that you are going to swear a made up, but are 100% true! 1.)  Joe Gibbs has more wins as a NASCAR team owner than as an NFL Coach Coach Joe Gibbs is in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in addition to the NASCAR Hall of Fame.  During his 14 years as head coach of the Washington Football Team (formerly known as the Redskins), Gibbs won 3 Super Bowls and 171 Football games (regular season and playoffs) as an NFL coach.    What Surprised me is that he has more wins as a NASCAR Cup Series owner then he does as an NF

In Defense of Brennan Poole

In Defense of Brennan Poole By Brian Cotnoir When I think of NASCAR driver Brennan Poole one thing comes to mind: DC Solar.  The first time I can remember seeing Brennan Poole on track was in an Xfinity Race where he carried sponsorship from DC Solar.  Poole would have some success with the DC Solar sponsored car at Chip Ganassi Racing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, but never seemed to find Victory Lane.   Meanwhile, drivers like Kyle Larson and Ross Chastain were able to get wins for Ganassi with DC Solar on board, but a little bit more on that later. Brennan Poole is a talented racecar driver.   In 2011, he won in his first ever start in the ARCA Series at Salem Speedway in Indiana.    Due to Sponsorship issues, he mostly ran part-time for the powerhouse Venturini Racing team.  In 27 career ARCA starts Poole won 6 races for Venturini and finished in the Top 5 an impressive 66% of the the time!    In 2015, Poole made the jump to the Xfinity Series where he drove part-time for H. Scot

In Defense of Natalie Decker

In Defense of Natalie Decker By Brian Cotnoir Welcome to a new segment on the blog, where I take a look at former and Current drivers in NASCAR's Top 3 Series who I feel may be unfairly judged and don't deserve so much (or as much ) flack as they typically get from typical racing fans.  So with that being said, let's talk about Natalie Decker. Natalie Decker is a racecar driver from Wisconsin who has run part-time in the NASCAR Truck Series since 2019.   This past season she only ran 5 races for Our Motorsports and Reaume Brothers Racing, with mid-field results.  In addition she also raced part-time in Trans-Am, where she won her first race in her division at the Circuit of the America's in addition to two runner-up finishes that helped her clinch Pro/Am Division Championship.  Before making the jump to NASCAR she ran full season in the ARCA Series for the Powerhouse Venturini Motorsports.  She scored the Pole for the Daytona ARCA race and wound up finishing 5th (her b

5 of the Best "FINALLY!" Moments in Auto Racing By Brian Cotnoir Last night Daniel Hemric finally won his first race in NASCAR's Top 3 Series.  Not only was that his first win in NASCAR, but it also won him the 2021 Xfinity Series Champion.   Hemric who has been running in NASCAR full-time, in some capacity, since 2014 and until last night was tied for the record of most career runner-up finishes in the Xfinity series without a win, 10.   In addition he also had 2 runner-up finished in the Truck Series.   Hemric in the Xfinity and Truck Series consistently ran and finished in the Top 5, but never seemed to be able to pull it together, until last night.   No more will he have to hear the question "When are you going to win your first race?".   Finally, he is a NASCAR winner & champion.   That got me thinking; what are some of the other Best "Finally" moments in racing. 1.)  Will Power Finally wins the IndyCar Championship I talked about this alread
