Top 10 Busch/Nationwide/Xfinity Series Paint Schemes

Top 10 Busch/Nationwide/Xfinity Series Paint Schemes

List Compiled by Brian Cotnoir

So in my last list, I counted down the Top 10 Best Paint Schemes in NASCAR....well I realized I should've called it the best Cup Car Paint Schemes, because I completely negated some of the Great Paint Schemes from NASCAR's 2nd Tier Series (Busch/Nationwide/Xfinity).  However, in my defense, that series has only been around since 1982, and many of the great paint schemes run in the series are identical to some of the Best Cup Series Paint Schemes.  So just a little fill in before you read this list.  Because a lot of the early Busch Series drivers didn't run weekly, I will consider paint schemes run on partial schedules.  I also will allow paint schemes run by multiple drivers in the series, but I will be excluding any paint schemes that were just copies of Cup Series Paint Schemes.  So here is my list of the Top 10 Best Busch/Nationwide/Xfinity Series Paint Schemes

#10.) AC Delco, Chevy (Steve Park, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kevin Harvick, Ron Hornaday Jr, Clint Bowyer, and others).

What Dale Earnhardt Sr.'s Black #3 is to the Cup Series, the Blue and White AC Delco Chevy is to the Busch Series.  Whether numbered 3 or 2, the AC Delco Chevy run by the--now defunct-- Dale Earnhardt Incorporated or Richard Childress Racing, it was the most dominant car of the 90's and early 2000's winning 4 Busch Series titles (Two with Dale Earnhardt Jr. For DEI and 1 each for Kevin Harvick and Clint Bowyer at RCR).   It seems like every driver who drove this car had some for of success, must'be been a lucky paint scheme.

#9.)  Marcos Ambrose, STP Ford

Marcos Ambrose is, in my opinion, the Most Interesting NASCAR crossover star of All-Time.  A champion driver in his native Australia, Ambrose made the transition to NASCAR and had success in some form of another in all of NASCAR's Top 3 Series.  However, I think the Best paint scheme Ambrose had was the STP Ford he drove to his first Nationwide Series Victory.  It hearkened me back to the days of Richard Petty and was so nice to see an Underdog and Fan Favorite get his first career win.

#8.)  Mark Martin, Carolina Ford Dealers, Ford

This is just a Cool Paint Scheme in my opinion.  Simple, yet cool, and was brought back by Clint Bowyer at last years Darlington Throwback weekend.

#7.)  Kyle Busch, Monster Energy, Toyota

No Matter who drove this car, it always found it's way to Victory Lane.  This was probably the most dominant car in the Xfinity Series of the past decade.  The #54 Monster Energy Toyota found success with Kyle Busch at Kyle Busch Motorsports and he transferred that success over to Joe Gibbs Racing.  Over the years some of the Best Drivers in NASCAR including Kyle and Kurt Busch, Erik Jones, and Sam Hornish Jr. have all taken this Black #54 to Victory Lane.

#6.)  Lyndon Amick and Mark Green, Dr. Pepper, Chevy

Now, both of these cars had similar paint schemes, and unfortunately never found their ways into victory lane, but I will give a slight edge to Lyndon Amick for having a cooler number font than Mark Green.

#5.)  Brendan Gaughan and Daniel Hemric, South Point Casino, Chevy

I just really liked the Yellow Roof and trim with the Black Paint Scheme.  I'm glad this paint scheme continued with Daniel Hemric after Brendan Gaughan retired from RCR.

#4.)  Jeff Burton, Gain, Ford

Jeff Burton won a lot of Busch Series races with this car.  In fact, this paint scheme is the reason why I still only by Gain Laundry Detergent.  It just goes to show the power of advertising in NASCAR.

#3.)  Casey Atwood, Castrol GTX, Chevy

He may be regarded as one of the Biggest Busts in NASCAR Cup Series History, but at least he had some moderate success and raced a car with a cool Paint Scheme in the Busch Series.  I think most people can remember him wrecking this car in the Tri-Oval at Daytona and flipping it over several times.

#2,  Rickey Craven, Dupont Chevy

Jeff Gordon's not the only driver with an awesome Dupont Paint scheme.  Rickey Craven was the closest thing I ever had to a "Local Driver" in the NASCAR Cup Series as a kid.  Rickey Craven ran the short tracks of New England is still had quite a loyal fan base in the twilight of his career.   I remember seeing a lot of racing fans with posters of his Dupont Car in their Motor homes and trailers at local short tracks as a kid.

#1.)  Jeff Fuller, Sunoco, Chevy

Yet, another local driver from my childhood, Jeff Fuller only ever had one career win in the Busch Series, but at least he achieved it in this bad a$$ looking Sunoco Chevrolet.
