Top 5 Worst Performing Scuderia Toro Rosso Drivers
-The Top 5 Worst Performing Scuderia Toro Rosso
Drivers
By Brian Cotnoir
The Red Bull Corporation is so rich they bought not
one, but TWO Formula 1 teams. There’s
the Red Bull F1 team based in UK and a Red Bull Junior team based in Faenza, Italy called Scuderia Toro Rosso. STR started its life as Minardi F1 in the
1980’s, but since joining the Red Bull program it has gone on to develop talent
for some of the greatest drivers including Sebastian Vettel, Daniel Ricciardo,
and Max Verstappen, however they have also had a number of drivers who just
weren’t cut out for Formula 1.
5.) Sebastien Buemi, 3 Seasons, 29 Total Points, Average Point Finish of
16th.
Sebastien Buemi had some pretty lackluster results
in 3 Seasons at STR. His most memorable
moment was having his front tires break off his car at the 2010 Chinese Grand
Prix
At least things for Buemi worked out in Formula E
4.) Brendon
Hartley 1 Season, 4 Total Points, Career best finish of 9th place at
2018 US Grand Prix
I personally feel like Brendon Hartley deserved at
least one more season in Formula 1, but in his only full-time Formula 1 season
in 2018 he only managed to finish in the points 3 times.
No real luck in F1 for the Kiwi driver |
3.) Sebastien
Bourdais, 1.5 Seasons, 6 Total Points Scored, Career Best Finish of 7th
(Twice)
This is the 3rd driver named Sebastien
to drive for the Scuderia Toro Rosso.
Bourdais may not have had much success in Formula 1, but he is still one
of the most successful drivers in the history of Indy Car/Champ Car/CART
Sebastian Bourdais |
2.) Vitantonio Liuzzi, 2 Seasons, 4 Total Points Scored, Average Points finish of 19th.
Liuzzi was one of the original STR drivers; and
Italian Driver for an Italian team, just seemed to make sense. He drove for the team for 2 seasons, but only
managed to score 4 points.
1.) Scott
Speed, 1.5 Seasons, 0 Total Points
Scored, Career Best finish 9th (twice).
This one is hard for me to admit, because Scott
Speed is one of my favorite race car drivers, and to date he was the last
full-time Formula 1 driver from America, but his results in Formula 1 were very
lackluster. However, when Speed raced,
only the Top 8 finishers received points, but he would have had scored a few
points if they were using the modern points system. He was also teammates with Vitantonio Liuzzi
as well for the entirety of his career.
Don't worry, Scott, you still had success in other forms of racing |
