5 Greatest Drivers in Auto Racing History A List by Brian Cotnoir I love all forms of Auto Racing.    I started out with NASCAR and CART/ IndyCar and over the years I’ve gotten into USAC, Formula 1, Le Mans, MotoGP, NHRA, just every form of Auto Racing.    I love talking about the best and worst drivers in racing history and debating with my friends.    I thought this would be an easy list to compile, but it turned out to be more difficult than I ever could have imagined.   Just thinking about the best drivers in each form of racing and only limiting it down to 5 drivers; I must have switched my Top 5 around at least a half-dozen times, but now I am here to present my Top 5.   These are without a doubt the 7 Best drivers in Auto Racing History *Honorable Mentions* Here are my honorable mentions that just missed the list: Richard Petty (NASCAR’s Winningest Drivers), Gilles Villeneuve (F1 legend), Sebastien Loeb (9-Time World Rally Champion), John Force (NHRA’s winninge

Top 5 Worst Performing Benetton Formula drivers By Brian Cotnoir           A family known more famously for their clothing brands & stories, The Benetton family bought a Formula 1 team in the 1980’s and success followed almost instantly.   In their short time on the F1 grid, the team had some of the best staff in F1 history, such as Ross Brawn and Flavio Briatore, and won 2 drivers and 1 Constructors Championships with the great Michael Schumacher driving for the team.   Schumacher would also score 19 of the teams 27 Grand Prix Victories.   Benetton was one of those teams that weren’t ever really bad —they actually had some of the best drivers in Formula 1 drive for them—but the few drivers who were bad for the team really sticks out.   This is the Top 5 Worst performing Benetton Formula drivers. 5.)   Thierry Boutsen, 2 Seasons, 43 Total Points Scored, Best Finish 3 rd (6X) Thierry Boutsen actually had some decent races at Benetton.   In 1988 he finished 4 th in

Top 5 Worst Performing Arrows Grand Prix International drivers

TOP 5 Worst Performing Arrows Grand Prix International drivers By Brian Cotnoir Although they never won a Grand Prix Race in there almost two decades of existence, the Arrows team was one of the most iconic midfield runners of the late 20 th century.    The team even managed to sign World Champion Damon Hill to drive for them the year after he won the Driver’s Championship with Williams.     Arrows would briefly be known as Footwork in the early 1990’s, but I’m only going to focus specifically on the Arrows drivers for this list.   The only drivers I will be referring drove specifically for Arrows from 1978-1990 and from 1997-2002.   I will possibly do a Top 5 Worst performing Footwork drivers on a later list. 5.) Pedro Diniz, 2 Seasons, Average Points Finish of 15 th , Best Finish 5 th (2X) Pedro Diniz’s F1 career as a whole was disastrous!    He just wasn’t that good of a driver; he only made it to Formula 1 is because his family had a lot of money.    The fact th

Top 5 Worst Performing Brabham F1 drivers

Top 5 Worst Performing Brabham F1 drivers By: Brian Cotnoir Officially known as Motor Racing Developments, LTD. , this British Formula 1 team would be better known as the Brabham team and was founded in 1962 by Australian Formula 1 racing legend Jack Brabham and designer Ron Taurenac, and later would fall under the direction of a certain Bernie Eccelstone.   Throughout its 30 year history the Brabham F1 team would field some of the most dominant cars of the late 1960’s and throughout the 1980’s, winning 4 drivers titles and 2 constructors championships, but still there were a few drivers who drove for Brabham, especially towards the end that did not fall into the category of great Brabham drivers. 5.)   Jochen Rindt, 1 Season, 2 Podiums, 8 Total Points Scored, 10 Race Retirements I believe this is the first time I’ve had a former World Champion on my Top 5 Worst Lists.   Before he was World Champion Jochen Rindt spent one season at the Brabham.   While at Brabham he fin

Top 5 Most Unique Victory (Lane) Celebrations in Auto Racing

Top 5 Most Unique Victory (Lane) Celebrations in Auto Racing Article By Brian Cotnoir           Throughout most forms of Auto Racing Victory Lane Procedures are the same.    In NASCAR the driver climbs out of the car and stands out of the driver’s side window while their team douses them with water and Gatorade, and in open wheel racing, they gather the top 3 finishers and have a very nice Podium Ceremony where the Top three finishers are congratulated with a trophy and the National Anthem of winning driver’s home country is played.    Some drivers celebrate victories with burnouts and doing donuts in the grass.   NASCAR driver Kyle Busch bows to the crowd with the Checkered Flag after every one of his victories and NASCAR Hall of Famer Alan Kulwicki drove a backwards lap around the track (A “ Polish Victory Lap ” as it became to be known) to acknowledge the fans at the race track, but even still there are some drivers who take Victory Lane celebrations to a whole other level a
