Top 5 Worst performing British Racing Motors drivers

Top 5 Worst Performing British Racing Motors drivers
List by Brian Cotnoir

Even though they’re one of the earliest teams in F1 history, I’m afraid I don’t know that much about the British Racing Motors (BRM) team.  The only things I actually know about the team is Graham Hill was their most successful driver, and Jackie Stewart got his first win while driving for BRM.  Other than that I only recognize BRM for their appearance in the 1966 film “Grand Prix”.  Still, I was able to compile the best list I could about the BRM team; here are the 5 Worst Performing British Racing Motors drivers.

5.)  Jean Behra, 1 season (1958), 9 Championship points scored, Best Finish of 3rd at the Dutch Grand Prix

French driver Jean Behra had a disastrous season driving for BRM in 1958, he had to retire from 8-out-of-11 Grand Prix entered and his best finish was a 3rd place at the 1958 Dutch Grand Prix.

4.)  Tony Brooks, 1 Season (1961), 6 Championship points scored, Best finish of 3rd at the United States Grand Prix

Tony Brooks made his F1 debut in 1956 at the British Grand Prix with BRM, where he failed to finish.  It would be his only race with the team that year.  Brooks would go on to have a couple successful seasons driving for Vanwall and Scuderia Ferrari.   He even finished runner-up in the 1959 World Drivers Championship to Jack Brabham.   Brooks final season in Formula 1 was in 1961 driving for BRM, he’d finish 3rd at the United States Grand Prix, his final ever start in Formula One.

3.)  Henri Pescarolo, 1 Season (1974) 0 Championship points scored, Best Finish of 9th at the Argentine Grand Prix

Henri Pescarolo is a four-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans (including three in a row from 1972-1974), however his results in Formula 1 never matched his results in sports cars.  In his only season at BRM his best finish was 9th at the Argentine Grand Prix.  He also retired in 7-out-of-8 straight Grand Prix’s.

2.)  George Eaton, 1 Season (1970), 0 Championship points scored, Best Finish, 10th at the Canadian Grand Prix

George Eaton came from a very prominent and wealthy Canadian family.   Eaton only ran one full-time season In F1 (and a handful of races in other seasons also for BRM).  Eaton failed to score points in any of his F1 starts.  He failed to qualify for 2 races in 1970, and did not start two others.   His best finish was a 10th place at his home Grand Prix.

1.)  Francois Migault, 1 season (1974), 0 Championship points scored, Best finish, 14th at the French Grand Prix

Francois Migault was another Sports Car racer who tried his hands in racing Formula 1.  He was teamed up with his fellow countrymen Henri Pescarolo in 1974, which also yielded some disastrous results for him as well.   He did not start four races and failed to qualify for the German Grand Prix.  His best finish was a 14th at the French Grand Prix.   The following year Migault enter a handful races in Formula One.   Migault retired from the Belgian Grand Prix for Embassy Hill Racing and had a DNS for Frank Williams Racing Cars at the French Grand Prix.
