The Ultimate F1 Championship (Part 2)
The Ultimate F1 Championship (Part 2)
An Article By Brian Cotnoir
Welcome Back!
If you enjoyed my last article, then I really hope you’ll enjoy part 2
of my Ultimate F1 Championship. So the
teams have been decided by country and the Pre-Season Rankings have been
announced let’s see how all 13 of these teams would do in a 25 race season; a
mixture of Present Days Grand Prix and Former Grand Prix Circuits, just to keep
things interesting. Points Scoring Was determined in the following Way.
·
Top 3 finishers are determined by
highest number wins at a Grand Prix Circuit.
·
In the event two drivers tie for a spot
for most wins at a Grand Prix, then the tie breaker will factor in what driver
had the highest number of podiums in that Grand Prix (and in the rare event
there is a tie there too, the tie breaker will go to the driver with the
highest average finish)
·
Only the Top 3 receive points and the
points are based on the Present Day Points for the Top 3 (1st=25
Pts, 2nd= 18 pts, 3rd=15 pts).
·
1 Bonus point will be added to the
driver and constructors final championship score for each podium finish.
·
This is ALL MY OPINION AND JUST FOR
FUN. If you think you have a much better
points system or would have done scoring a different way, let me know, I’m
generally interested into how you would have scored this championship.
So without further ado here’s how I believe this
season would play out:
Race #1- Abu Dhabi Grand Prix
The season starts off in Abu Dhabi and the early
greats like Fangio, Ascari, and Brabham have a difficult time adjusting to
these modern circuits. The race is dominated by present day drivers and the Top
3 is Lewis Hamilton, then Sebastian Vettel, followed by Kimi Raikonen
Race #2- Argentine Grand Prix
The early greats rebound in the second race of the
season; Juan Manuel Fangio wins his home Grand Prix, with North American
drivers Jacques Villeneuve and Mario Andretti also finishing on the podium,
surprising everyone.
Race #3- Australian Grand Prix
The Australian Grand Prix is dominated by Michael
Schumacher with local hero Jack Brabham bringing it home in second, and finally
Schumacher’s teammate Sebastian Vettel bringing her home in 3rd.
Race #4- Austrian Grand Prix
Alain Prost wins the Austrian Grand Prix at the
A1/Red Bull Ring with Michael Schumacher close behind in 2nd and
Alan Jones taking a surprising 3rd place finish, giving Team
Australia back-to-back podium finishes.
Race #5- Bahrain Grand Prix
In the 5th race of the Season Sebastian
Vettel becomes the 5th different winner of the season in Bahrain, he
is followed by driver Fernando Alonso who gives Team Spain their first points
of the season, and then Lewis Hamilton in third
Race #6- Belgian Grand Prix
Michael Schumacher dominates the Belgian Grand Prix
at Spa-Franco champs leading every lap of the race, and becoming the first
repeat winner of the season. He is
followed up by Ayrton Senna in 2nd and Kimi Raikonen in 3rd
place.
Race #7- Brazilian Grand Prix
Alain Prost takes a surprising win in the Brazilian
Grand Prix, followed by Michael Schumacher and 2nd. Although neither Team Brazil driver, Senna or
Piquet, are able to finish on the podium in their home Grand Prix, fellow South
American Carlos Reutemann finishes on podium in 3rd place.
Race #8- British Grand Prix
Lewis Hamilton wins his home Grand Prix in front of
an excited British Crowd at Silverstone.
He is followed fellow F1 legends Alain Prost and Michael Schumacher
Race #9- Canadian Grand Prix

the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve after a race long battle with 2nd
place finisher Lewis Hamilton. Nelson
Piquet Sr, earns his first points of the season with a 3rd place
finish.

The Chinese Grand Prix is dominated by young talent in the race. Lewis Hamilton finishes first with Fernando
Alonso coming in second and Kimi Raikonen finishing 3rd in the race.
Race #11- Dutch Grand Prix
Jackie Stewart shocks everyone by winning the Dutch
Grand Prix, he is followed up by Team Austria driver Nikki Lauda, who scores
his team’s first points of the season.
Jack Brabham has his best finish since his home Grand Prix in Australia
taking home the 3rd place points.
Race #12- French Grand Prix
Michael Schumacher wins the French Grand Prix, much
to the chagrin of Team France driver Alain Prost who has to settle for 2nd
place. Juan Manuel Fangio has another
impressive run, finishing 3rd in the French Gand Prix
Race #13- German Grand Prix
Michael Schumacher goes back to back winning his
home Grand Prix, he’s followed by fan favorites Lewis Hamilton in 2nd,
and Ayrton Senna in 3rd.
Race #14- Hungarian Grand Prix
Lewis Hamilton wins the Hungarian Grand Prix,
preventing Michael Schumacher from winning three Grand Prix’s in a row. Schumacher has to settle for 2nd,
while Ayrton Senna claims another 3rd place finish.
Race #15- Italian Grand Prix
It’s the Schumacher and Hamilton show again at the
Italian Grand Prix. The two trade the
lead throughout the race, but in the end Schumacher wins his 6th
race of the season. Hamilton has to
settle for second, while Nelson Piquet Sr. squeaks by with a 3rd
place finish
Race #16- Japanese Grand Prix
It’s Win #7 for Michael Schumacher in Japan at the
Suzuka Circuit. Hamilton is the meat
inside a German Bread Sandwich as Sebastian Vettel brings it home in 3rd.

Singapore

Fernando Alonso was hoping to capitalize on his
success in Singapore and bring home a win at his home Grand Prix, but was no
