Top 5 Worst Performing Footwork Arrows drivers

Top 5 Worst Performing Footwork Arrows drivers
A list compiled by Brian Cotnoir

Back when I published my article on the 5 Worst Performing Arrows Grand Prix drivers, I made it clear that I was purposely omitting the Footwork years, but did say that I might write a future list where I take a look at the Top 5 Worst Performing Footwork drivers, and today is that day.  Nothing else new to say, here are the Top 5 Worst Performing Footwork Arrows drivers (oh and if you haven’t read my Top 5 Worst Performing Arrows drivers list, I’ll leave a link at the bottom of the article.

5.)  Derek Warwick, 1 season (1993), 4 Championship points scored, Finished 16th in the Final Points Standings

Derek Warwick came back to F1 after a 3-year hiatus and ran his final season in F1 with the Footwork team.  Warwick managed to score 4 Championship points in his Final Season of F1.  His best finish was a 4th place at the Hungarian Grand Prix that year.

4.)  Jos Verstappen, 1 Season (1996), 1 Championship Point Scored, Finished 18th in the Final Point Standings

The father of F1 Superstar, Max Verstappen, Jos Verstappen drove for Footwork after racing part-time for Benetton and Simtek in the previous two seasons.    Verstappen’s first full-time season in F1 was complete failure and he failed to finish 75% of the races he entered.  His best finish was a 6th place at the Argentine Grand Prix.  Jos Verstappen would return to the team when they reverted back to Arrows, but still yielded some pretty lackluster F1 results.

3.)  Riccardo Rosset, 1 Season (1996), 0 Championship Points Scored, Best Finish 8th at the Hungarian Grand Prix

Riccardo Rosset was Jos Verstappen’s teammate in 1996, but he too struggled with the team.  It was also Rosset’s first season ever in F1 and just like his time at Tyrrell, Rosset failed to score any points.  He also failed to finish 50% of the races he entered for the team.

2.)  Taki Inoue, 1 season (1995), 0 Championship points Scored, Best finish 8th at the Italian Grand Prix

Taki Inoue only had entered one race in Formula 1 before signing on full-time with Footwork.  In his only full-time season in Formula 1, Inoue retired from 12-out-of-17 Grand Prix’s entered and failed to score a single championship point.

1.)  Aguri Suzuki, 2 Seasons, 0 Championship points scored, 2 DNQ’s and Retired from 50% of the Grand Prix’s entered.

After two mediocre seasons at Larrousse, where he surprisingly scored the only podium of his career at the 1990 Japanese Grand Prix, Aguri Suzuki was signed on to drive for Footwork.  Aguri Suzuki came close to scoring points at Footwork, but was unable to achieve better results.   Suzuki would never run another full-time season in F1 after leaving Footwork.  He would launch his only F1 team in 2006, but they would be forced to shut down after 4 rounds of the 2008 season.
