Another 10 Awesome NASCAR Paint Scheme's that you (may have) forgot about

Another 10 Awesome NASCAR Paint Scheme’s that you (may have) forgot about

By: Brian Cotnoir

1.)  Kevin Lepage, Hype Energy

I still have never had a can of Hype Energy, but I do I remember this paint scheme driven by Kevin Lepage in the Busch Series in the 1990s.  Lepage would score his 1st career win in the Busch Series with this paint scheme at the 1996 finale at Homestead.

2.) Stanley Smith, Interstate Batteries

Long before Interstate Batteries became a mainstay at Joe Gibbs Racing, they sponsored another driver, Stanley Smith.  I honestly wish Gibbs would have kept this scheme over the one he had with Dale Jarrett, Bobby Labonte, JJ Yeley and Kyle Busch

3.)  Bill Elliott, Burger King

Despite having a long-time sponsorship with McDonald’s that lasted several seasons, Bill Elliott drove the #00 car for Michael Waltrip Racing with sponsorship from rival Burger King at the 2006 Brickyard 400.  This is one of the better Burger King designs I’ve seen in NASCAR.

4.)  Greg Biffle, Grainger

Grainger is a company that followed Greg Biffle’s NASCAR career from the Truck Series, to the Grand National Series, and eventually the Cup Series!  Biffle had his most successful years when sponsored by Grainger, but my personal favorite was the Cup design.

5.) Buckshot Jones, Aquafresh

Buckshot Jones changed up his Black & White #00 to a fresh Silver & Aqua one to go along with sponsor Aquafresh, and it looks so much better.

6.)  Kyle Busch, Mountain Dew

I love Mountain Dew, it’s my favorite soda, and it’s had some very iconic paint schemes, including this forgotten gem from the Grand National Series that was driven on a part-time basis by Kyle Busch

7.)  Stacy Compton, Kodiak

Kodiak had some pretty boring paint schmes in the 1980’s and 1990’s sponsoring drivers like Rusty Wallace, Kenny Schrader, and Steve Grissom, but they got a really cool one when they sponsored Stacy Compton, the bright orange & green really go well with the black.  Too bad driver Stacy Compton didn’t have many good results with this car.

8.)  Jason Leffler, Cingular Wireless

I like this one better than the one driven by Robby Gordon & Jeff Burton in the early 2000’s.  Although, this Cingular car never went to victory lane, it still looks really cool

9.)  Daniel Hemric, Clean Power

Daniel Hemric really stood out in the truck series with these bright Green & Orange trucks that vaguely resembled Danica Patrick’s GoDaddy paint scheme.   I really wish Hemric could have brought these trucks to victory lane because they were quite competitive.

10.)  Ward Burton, Hardees

I’ve never eaten at a Hardees (or Carl’s Jr.) but I still remember this car piloted by Ward Burton in his rookie campaign.
